It is almost time for the University to issue the annual 1098-T tuition statement for tax purposes. This form shows the amount billed for qualified tuition during the year and is often used when families file taxes.

Montclair State University partners with ECSI to deliver 1098-T forms and students have the option to receive their form electronically. To do so, your student must give consent and follow the steps below by January 1, 2026. If they do not select electronic delivery, the form will be mailed to the home address they have on file in NEST.

Getting a 1098-T Electronically

Students who want to receive their 1098-T electronically must complete the consent process through ECSI. Families cannot complete this step on their student’s behalf, but you can share these instructions with them:

1. Visit the ECSI Website
2. At the top right of the page click "Register" to create a profile or "Sign In" if they already have a profile.
3. Once they have logged into their account, navigate to "Your Communication Center" at the top.
4. Select "Tax Statement eConsent."
5. At the bottom of the page click "Add New Consent."
   1. Once clicked, the Electronic Consent Application will open below.
6. Complete the Electronic Consent Application.
7. Check the box and click "Submit & Accept."

• Online delivery eliminates the chance that the 1098-T will get lost, misdirected or delayed during delivery or misplaced once received.

• Students can receive your 1098-T form while traveling or away from their home address.
